- Newer law has been passed "The Health Safeguards for People Born with Variations in Sex Characteristics Bill 2025 has passed both houses of Parliament today (19 Feb 2026) and is expected to commence on 1 December 2028 at the latest per section 2 (the government can proclaim an earlier commencement date). This bill will ban intersex infant surgery in Victoria.
