Morocco has several censorship measures in place including LGBT media censorship. The 1962 Penal Code criminalises "obscenity" in public under Article 483 which has been used to persecute LGBTIQ+ people. Article 3 of the Decree Regulating the Right of Association prohibits associations from engaging in activities that, inter alia, “breach the laws or public morals” or “offend Islam”. Further amendments were made by Decree No. 2-04-969 in 2005, which include prohibitive provisions, such as capacities at start-up. LGBT organisations are refused to register by the authorities.

Article 489 of the Penal Code punishes same sex behaviour by imprisonment of between 6 months and 3 years, and a fine of 200 to 1000 dirhams.

In 1962, Neuquen passed a law in the Code of Misdemeanours that gave homosexuals the same penalty as prostitution if they "intentionally frequent minors under 18 years of age" even if they had no intentions of soliciting said minors. This law would be repealed in 2011.

Samoa does not have a military. They are protected by New Zealand through an informal pact known as the Treaty of Friendship.

Ontario's Human Rights Code prohibits discrimination and harassment because of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression in housing, contracts, employment, goods, services, facilities, and membership in unions or professional associations. The Code is enforced by the Ontario Human Rights Commission.

The 1961 Crimes Act in Samoa criminalised “female impersonation” with 6 months imprisonment. This had criminalised the gender expression of the indigenous Fa’afafine population and other trans women. It was repealed in 2013.

Illinois enacted a new Vital Statistics Act, becoming a statutory pioneer by explicitly authorizing gender marker changes. The law legally mandated the State Registrar to issue a new birth certificate strictly upon receiving an affidavit from a physician confirming that a sex-reassignment surgery had been performed on the applicant.

Illinois was the first state in the United States to decriminalize sodomy. On July 28th, 1961, Gov. Otto Kerner signed legislation that repealed the laws against sodomy, and it went into effect on January 1st, 1962.

In 1962, provisions against homosexuality were removed from the penal code and homosexuality was decriminalised.
